If you want to ensure longevity of your favourite #footwear, make sure you store them right and use the best ways to keep them clean, suggests an expert.

Never leave dirty shoes in your closet because once the dirt settles, it completely spoils the texture and the shoe loses its shine and structure.

Baby wipes is a good shoe cleaning alternative. Mild detergent for cleaning textile and PU shoes is also helpful.

Bollywood star #PriyankaChopra has become the first Indian film #celebrity to enter Forbes magazine's list of highest paid TV actresses in the world.

Priyanka, who ranks eighth in the list, made her entry after starring in the American drama series "Quantico". Her earnings are pegged at $11 million, Forbes said.

While the former Miss World made her international acting debut last year with "Quantico", she is gearing up for its second season, where she will be seen essaying the character of a CBI agent named Alex Parrish.

In India, the 34-year-old actress has starred in two Bollywood films in the past one year -- "Bajirao Mastani" and "Jai Gangaajal" -- and will make her Hollywood film debut with "Baywatch" alongside Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson, the world's highest-paid actor.

Priyanka has also garnered her high earnings from her many endorsement deals.

The list of highest-paid TV actresses is topped by American actress Sofia Vergara, who is at the first position for the fifth year in a row.

"I had come to Hyderabad for an ad shoot, and a casting director made me meet ‘Majnu' director Virinchi (Varma). I wasn't even told for which film I was going to meet him and nor did I know who is going to play the lead. We generally met, spoke casually and I went back to Mumbai," Priyashri told.

"I was least expecting a call. When I went this time, I was narrated the story and was subsequently signed on. I think it was destiny that landed me the offer. I must have woken up on the right side of the bed that day," she quipped.

Bangladeshi designer #BibiRussell, who works closely with Indian artisans for her fashion creations, foresees a bright future for #khadi -- a fabric that Mahatma Gandhi used as a symbol of protest against the British Raj -- provided it is "contextualised" and is in sync with current tastes.

"Khadi is the fabric of the future. It keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer, it uses hand and human resources from step one till finish. What it needs is contextualisation in modern times," Russell told in an e-mail interview from Dhaka.

The designer is excited about showcasing her latest collection at the seventh edition of India Runway Week September 16-18 and said khadi would be the focus of the range.

"The collection that I will be showing is 100 percent khadi and 100 percent Rajasthani. Rajasthan is a goldmine for all sorts of culture and art. It is also the largest producer of woollen khadi or 'ooni' khadi as they call it," she added.

Ad films more challenging than movie-making: Onir

  • facebook

Filmmaker #Onir has stepped into ad film direction with a campaign for the AND Fall 16 collection titled #WhoYouAre, for which he shot with actress #KareenaKapoorKhan. He says trying this creative medium is tougher than making a film because of its time restriction.

"Doing ad films is more difficult because you have to say everything in 30 seconds, which is very different from films. Also, it challenges you as a filmmaker... And I like challenges. It was exciting too because this is the first time I was doing a advertising campaign," Onir told on phone from Mumbai.

"I enjoyed the creative process and how you reach out to the audience. The end product is beautiful and people are reacting very well. In films, there is certain comfort because you have been doing them for so long. It's always nice when you try other forms of storytelling.
