Mani Ratnam shoots 'Kaatru Veliyidai' in Hyderabad

Filmmaker #Mani_Ratnam, who is gearing up for extensive shooting of his upcoming Tamil romantic drama "#Kaatru_Veliyidai" in Ladakh later this month, has resumed a short schedule in Hyderabad, a source said.

"He started shooting in Hyderabad earlier this month. It will be a 10-day schedule and then the team will head to Ladakh for over a month of shooting," a source from the film's unit told.

Starring Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead, the film has music by A.R Rahman.

Produced by Madras Talkies, "Kaatru Veliyidai" also stars Shraddha Srinath, Rukmini Vijayakumar, RJ Balaji, Delhi Ganesh and veteran Malayalam actress Lalitha.

Akshara Haasan lands role in 'Thupparivaalan'

Actor #Akshara_Haasan has been roped in to play a pivotal role in Vishal-starrer Tamil thriller "Thupparivaalan'.

"Happy to announce another addition to our 'Thupparivaalan' cast. A warm welcome to Akshara Haasan," Vishal wrote on his Twitter page.

Directed by Mysskin, the film is an investigative thriller, and features Vishal as a suave detective.

Also starring Rakul Preet Singh and Prasanna, the project went on the floors recently.

Vishal is producing the film, which will have music by Arrol Corelli.

Last seen in R. Balki's "Shamitabh", Akshara is gearing up to join the sets of Ajith's yet-untitled next Tamil film.

Salmon keeps Victoria Beckham's skin healthy

Singer-turned-designer #Victoria_Beckham eats salmon every day to keep her skin healthy.

The 42-year-old says that her skin wasn't always perfect, but her dermatologist told her to try eating the oily fish a day to help clear her complexion, reports

"I used to have really problematic skin and he (dermatologist) said to me, 'You have to eat salmon every single day'. I said, 'Really, every day?' And he said, 'Yes; breakfast, lunch or dinner, you have to eat it every single day'," Beckham told The Edit magazine.

While the former Spice Girl boasts having perfect skin, she also shared that she has made a lot of fashion mistakes.

"I have made so many fashion mistakes but I actually don't look at them as mistakes. I celebrate those things. I laugh occasionally but I'm not ashamed of any of that," Beckham said.

18 Indian films selected for 21st IFFK

The organisers of the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala #IFFK on Friday released the list of 18 #Indian_films in four categories, that will be screened at the festival which will take place here from December 9-16.

Over the years IFFK, which is staged soon after the International Film Festival of India in Goa, has now become a popular gala. It is organised by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy for the state-run Cultural Affairs Department.

The selection was made by a panel of experts and it includes two Malayalam films "Manhole", directed by debutant Vidhu Vincent and "Kaadu Pookkunna Neram" by Biju, which will compete in the international section.

'Birth of a Nation' protesters hold silent vigil in Hollywood

As "#The_Birth_of_a_Nation" -- whose actor, director, co-writer and producer Nate Parker has been in the news for his involvement in a 1999 rape case -- is ready for release, the Fvck Rape Culture organisation teamed up with artists, filmmakers and women in #Hollywood for a silent candlelight vigil here.

The protesters, honouring victims of rape and sexual assault, gathered at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood on Thursday night, reports 

The protesters gathered for a silent candlelight sit-in at the first screenings of Nate Parker's "The Birth of a Nation".

Around 30 to 40 people joined in the protest, planning to quietly sit for around two hours, about the length of the film. The group, honouring victims of rape and sexual assault, was mostly women, but a few men also joined in, and some of the protesters brought their dogs with them.

See no reason to do films just to pay bills: Neha Dhupia

Actress #Neha_Dhupia, who has been exploring different facets of showbiz -- as a judge on reality TV shows or as an audio talk show host -- says she doesn't see any reason in settling for "not so amazing" films just to pay her bills.

Neha believes that this is the time when she can experiment and try her hand at different things. 

"I think this is the time and age in this industry that there is so much stuff happening. It will be stupid not to exploit it," Neha told.

"You either have to be on the top of the curve or be ahead of it. I see no reason where I have to be doing not so amazing films just because I need to pay my bills. So that has changed... I am very comfortable with my skin," added the former beauty queen, who has featured in films like "Julie", "Ek Chaalis Ki Last Local" and "Phas Gaye Re Obama".

Fawad Khan breaks silence on India-Pakistan feud

Pakistani star #Fawad_Khan, condemned for being mum on the Uri terror attack which led to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, on Friday said he is praying for "a more peaceful world".

After the killing of 19 Indian soldiers, most of the popular Pakistani artistes had maintained silence on the matter. After a long wait, Fawad has broken his silence.

In a Facebook post, Fawad, who recently welcomed a daughter with wife Sadaf Khan, wrote: "I've been in Lahore since July as my wife and I had been expecting our second child. I've received numerous requests from the media and from well-wishers worldwide asking me for my thoughts on the sad incidents that took place in the past few weeks.

By 50th edition, IFFI to get new permanent venue: Goa CM

The 50th edition of the #IFFI in Goa will be held at a new permanent venue, which will be constructed under PPP mode and ready to function by November 2019, Chief Minister #Laxmikant_Parsekar said on Friday.

He was briefing Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu, who is on a day-long visit to the state. 

"During the meeting, the Chief Minister informed Naidu that 50 acres of land had been allotted to the Entertainment Society of Goa (a state government agency which officially hosts the festival) for development of permanent infrastructure for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI)," a government spokesperson told reporters here.

Naidu suggested during the meeting with Parsekar and state government officials, tasked with creating infrastructure for the international event, that the state authorities should collaborate with a central government Navratna company to raise infrastructure related to the IFFI.

Katrina Kaif won't renew contract as L'Oreal Paris ambassador

Bollywood actress #Katrina_Kaif and beauty brand L'Oréal Paris have mutually agreed not to renew their present contract, to avoid any conflict of interest with her new beauty retail venture.

"I have a great relationship with L'Oréal Paris and will continue to be with the brand until the end of the year. We have mutually agreed not to renew the contract since working in beauty retail will entail working with multiple brands," Katrina said in a statement issued on Friday by her publicists.

The actress, who has had a successful career in Hindi cinema, was appointed as one of the faces of L'Oréal Paris in 2013. She had even represented the brand at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor are other Indian ambassadors of the brand.

Popular Pakistani singer #Shafqat_Amanat_Ali, whose Bengaluru concert was cancelled after the September 18 attack in Jammu and Kashmir, has defended his fraternity members who he feels have been blamed for keeping quiet about condemning the incident.

He says artistes anywhere in the world are always against terrorism.

Some people in India contend that most celebrated Pakistan artistes were reluctant to condemn the Uri terror attack which killed 19 Indian soldiers. What did he think of that?

"It all started with the blame going on Pakistan from the word 'go' which absolutely put them on the back foot. No artiste will be okay with hearing things against their country, which is why they went quiet," the Lahore-based singer, who has sung in Bollywood movies starring superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, told in an email interaction.

New home line inspired by stories connecting India, China

Taapsee, who made her acting debut with the 2010 Telugu film "Jhummandi Naadam", made a swift transition to Bollywood in 2013 with the film "Chashme Baddoor". 

Asked if she faced a struggle to find good work in Bollywood, Taapsee told: "In Bollywood, no, I didn't really try to find good work at all. I have been lucky that way that the offers or opportunities fell on my lap to begin with. My struggles actually started after my first film, to keep up with the kind of response I got after the first film." 

The 29-year-old actress said "just to choose the right film" was a struggle for her.

Pakistani actress hopes cross-border film spreads love

A black comedy, "Jeewan Haathi" will not be screened in Indian cinemas as of now, the producers have said. However, it has been screened at film festivals in India and has been appreciated.

Will be part of Ram Leela next year: Nawazuddin

Acclaimed actor #Nawazuddin_Siddiqui, who was reportedly asked by Shiv Sena volunteers to pull out of a Ram Leela show as he is a Muslim and due to an ongoing harassment case, hopes to be a part of the annual stage drama next year.

Nawazuddin, currently in his village Budhana in Uttar Pradesh, was very excited to perform at the Ram Leela, especially because it was being staged in his hometown. But he was asked to pull out of the Ram Leela programme there after members of Shiv Sena reportedly raised objections.

"My childhood dream could not come true but I will definitely be a part of Ram Leela next year. Check the rehearsals," Nawazuddin tweeted on Thursday night.

KJo to be back with 'Koffee with Karan' in November

Filmmaker #Karan_Johar will be back on the small screen with the fifth edition of the popular chat show "Koffee With Karan" on November 6.

It will be launched on Star World and Star World HD.

The 28-year-old's new dreadlocks were her crowning glory as she stepped out in New York and prepared to party at a nightclub here, reports

She opted for a long vintage-look T-shirt bearing an image of her own face. She then removed her top to reveal her party attire - a red dress - underneath.

Her silk number flaunted her legs.

She completed her bold look with a splash of bright red lipstick, a fur stole and chunky gold jewellery.

It's not the first time the star has sported dreadlocks. She had debuted the look in 2012 when she appeared on "American Idol" - although this time they are far longer.

Akshay urges people to think about army, not ban on artistes

Actor #Akshay_Kumar on Thursday broke his silence on the ban on #Pakistani_artistes and said think about Indian Army and not the ban on artistes.

Akshay posted a video on Facebook in which he revealed his point of view on the debate.

Kumar posted: "Today I am not talking as a star or a celebrity, I am taking as a son of an army man. For the past few days, people have been debating and arguing and asking for proof about surgical strikes, few are demanding ban on artistes, while a few fear that there might be a war."

"Arey sharam karo (have shame)...these debates can happen later, first realise that people have already lost their lives at the border. 19 jawans died during the attack and a 24-year-old jawan Nitin Yadav died in Baramulla. Are their families, or the families of our thousands of jawans, worried whether a film will release or not? Whether an artiste will be banned? No. They are worried about their future," he said.

The actor went on to say we are because of them and India exists because of them.

Mumbai's Bengali community ready to welcome Goddess Durga

London-based models to catwalk on French European Indian Fashion Week runway

An initiative by the World News Network, the event is slated to be held at the iconic Eiffel Tower here from October 21-23.

Ashish Soni, Rajesh Pratap to show menswear line at AIFW S/S'17

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) on Thursday announced its partnership with NEXA, Maruti Suzuki's initiative for 'premium experience', and the names of the designers via a statement. 

In all 110 designers -- on the runway and stall area -- are taking part in the event to be held from October 12 to 16 at the NSIC Grounds, Okhla, here.

FDCI president Sunil Sethi said: "Ashish N Soni and Rajesh Pratap Singh, two names that have defined drifts in fashion will be showcasing a power packed collection inspired from the NEXA's colour palette which is uniquely minimalistic with defining hues of black, white and chrome."

Anurag Kashyap approached to play antagonist in 'Imaikaa Nodigal'

Director #Ajay_Gnanamuthu has confirmed that #Anurag_Kashyap has been approached with an offer to play the antagonist in his upcoming Tamil directorial "Imaikaa Nodigal", but says the filmmaker is yet to be signed on for the acting role.

"It's true we had approached Anurag, but nothing has been finalized yet. We're still waiting to hear back from him," Ajay told.

Tipped to be a thriller, the project stars Atharvaa and Raashi Khanna in the lead, with Nayanthara in a pivotal role.

To be produced by R.D Rajasekhar, the film will be backed by Cameo Films.

Anurag, who is a filmmaker of repute in Bollywood, was last seen as an actor in a conniving and ruthless police officer's role in A.R. Murugadoss's "Akira".

Akshay shoots last schedule of 'Jolly LLB 2' in Manali

Actor #Akshay_Kumar is shooting the last schedule for "#Jolly_LLB_2", a sequel to the 2013 popular courtroom comedy drama "Jolly LLB", in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

The 49-year-old actor shared a photograph of himself on social media Thursday.

He captioned it: "It's a Jolly good morning here in Manali. Just arrived and already afraid of missing it when I leave... The crew and the film. Last schedule." 

The "Rustom" star will be seen playing the role of a lawyer in the sequel, which also stars actress Huma Qureshi. The film is slated to release on February 10 next year.

'Ocean's Eight' to release in 2018

"Oceans Eight", the all-female spin-off of 2001 comedy heist film "Oceans Eleven" -- will release on June 8, 2018, Warner Bros has announced.

Actress #Sandra_Bullock will lead the cast of Gary Ross directorial, which also stars Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, and Sarah Paulson, reports

Bullock's character will be the leader of a group of thieves and cons who try to pull off a major heist. The film is likely to go on floors soon in New York.

"Ocean's Eight" is a spin-off from the "Ocean's Eleven" trilogy of heist comedies released in 2001, 2004 and 2007, which were directed by Steven Soderbergh and starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts. The three films grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide.

Kelly Clarkson calls daughter 'terrorist'

"She's a terrorist. She can be the most lovable human and then just mean," Clarkson said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Tuesday, reports

Further talking about her personal life, Clarkson said she doesn't want more children.

"We have four because I married into two," Clarkson said of her relationship with husband Brandon Blackstock, who has two children -- Savannah and Seth -- from a previous marriage. 

"So we have (a) 15-year-old, 9-year-old, 2-year-old and (a) 5-month-old. I already have days where I, like, cry, so we don't need any more kids. It's a lot," she added.

Ban on Indian films in Pakistan may boost piracy

Last week, Pakistani cinemas declared an indefinite ban on the screening of Indian movies following the Indian Film Association's ban on Pakistani talent in Bollywood, the Dawn reported on Wednesday.

'31st October' release pushed to October 21

#Soha_Ali_Khan and #Vir_Das starrer "#31st_October", which was earlier scheduled to hit the screens on October 7, has now been pushed to release on October 21 after a PIL was filed against the thriller.

The roadblock for the film's release has been created by a Delhi-based close aide of the Congress party who wants a ban on the movie, said the makers. The movie is about the aftermath of Indira Gandhi's assassination and its repercussions. 

"It's been a tough journey ever since I started working on this subject but I didn't give up then and will not give up now. From the censor to now getting threats, I am strong that I will make this film come to the big screen and people who don't want this subject to come out, cannot stop the world to know the reality of 1984," Harry Sachdeva, writer-producer of "31st October", said in a statement.

Australian Model to Compete in a Reality Show

#Australian_Model and former #Mrs_World_Australia is leaving Australia this week to compete in a new International Reality TV Show. The Miss Multiverse Reality TV Show combines “Next Top Model” “Survivor” and “The Apprentice” and is in search of the world’s most multifaceted lady. 30 models from across the world has been selected to compete for this prestigious title and will be tested on outer and inner beauty, emotional and social intelligence, entrepreneurial and leadership skills and much more.

Filming of the show and the contest take place in October 2016 and Australia’s contestant, Yolandi Franken, will leave for Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic on the 6th of October. The show pushes the girl’s limits through ongoing challenges and activities with daily eliminations. The final big pageant-style show will take place on the 20th of October where one winner (Miss Multiverse 2016) and ten models will be selected.

"I am very excited about this opportunity and experience, admittedly a tad nervous about the challenges, but that is only because I don’t know what they will be. I been preparing for this show for over a year and making sure that I am mentally fit to take on anything that is thrown my way."

Although the challenges and tests will not be known until the point when they happen, some of the more fun events that the models will take part is known and was organised by the host hotel – Hard Rock Hotel, Punta Cana. These events include a silk pyjama party, pool party, blackjack tournament and many more.

With a career to juggle and a show to prepare for, Yolandi surely has achieved a lot.  She is a film producer by day and is Head of Production at a Sydney based production company called Harbour Shore Entertainment.  Apart from that she is also freelance producing a feature film that just wrapped shooting, Tabernacle 101.

Irrfan adds mystery to India special trailer of 'Inferno'

#Irrfan_Khan is seen doing some hardcore action scenes, shows streaks of being the bad guy and then flaunts a discerning smile in the special India trailer of forthcoming #Hollywood_film #Inferno, which maintains the mystery element around his character.

The special trailer was launched on Tuesday here in the presence of Irrfan, and the actor quipped that the film can now be called "Irrfano" instead of "Inferno". 

The trailer is packed with action, suspense, mystery and thrill as the visuals are used to sketch a brief about Irrfan's character, and leaves the audience with more unanswered questions. 

In the Sony Pictures Entertainment's film, Tom Hanks will be seen reprising the role of Robert Langdon, a professor of symbology at Harvard University. Irrfan is playing Harry "The Provost" Sims, head of The Consortium, in the movie.

Hollywood is a challenge for Indian film industry: Irrfan Khan

Actor #Irrfan_Khan, known for doing a variety of roles both in the West and in India, says #Indian_film_industry is getting challenged by the success story of #Hollywood projects in India.

The actor added that it is time for the members of the Indian film industry to push the envelope for good.

"It (the market for Hollywood in India) is growing very rapidly. Indian films are getting affected by it. By the way it is going I think it is going to capture. In other countries also Hollywood has captured the market...It is a challenge for Indian film industry. They have to pull their socks up," Irrfan said here, adding that Hollywood is "becoming bigger and bigger every week".

The actor was speaking during the launch of India special trailer of his forthcoming Hollywood film "Inferno" here on Tuesday. Directed by Ron Howard, the film also features Tom Hanks and Felicity Jones, and will be releasing in India on October 14.

Radhika Apte slams reporter for question on leaked 'Parched' video

Actress #Radhika_Apte on Tuesday got angry with a media reporter for asking about the leaked nude scenes in her last release "#Parched".

"Sorry, your question is very ridiculous. Controversies are made by the people like you. You saw the clip, you shared with other people, so you made the controversy," she said at the launch of Swatch watches on Tuesday.

Recently, the leaked intimate scene between Adil Hussain and Radhika from "Parched" created a big controversy. However, the makers said the film is much more than the scenes.

Plea in HC against release of movie 'October 31st'

A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday to stop the release of a #Hindi_film based on the aftermath of the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which led to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The PIL said that the movie "31st October", starring Soha Ali Khan and Vir Das, is an attack on secular fabric of India and and is contrary to the ideology of the country's oldest political party.

"From whatever little is shown on trailers, it is clear that action and words used by the characters are of offending nature, they have all ingredients to tarnish the reputation of such persons. Apart from the fact that same can't stand the test of fair comment or that of social interest, they appear to be provocative," said the plea.

A.R. Rahman might compose music for Vijay's next

Double Oscar-winning composer #A_R_Rahman, who is busy with multiple projectsi his kitty, is most likely to be roped in as the music composer of Tamil superstar Vijay's yet-untitled next project, a source said.

"Talks have been initiated with Rahman, and it might take a week or two to get some clarity. He's yet to be officially signed on," a source from the film's unit told.

To be directed by Atlee, who had teamed up with Vijay in Tamil actioner "Their" earlier this year, the film will go on the floors next year.

The project will be bankrolled by Sri Thenandal Films.

Rahman had previously worked with Vijay in "Azhagiya Tamil Magan".

Irrfan Khan stays mum on Pakistani artistes' issue

Bollywood actor #Irrfan_Khan on Tuesday refused to comment on the ongoing debate on whether #Pakistani_artistes should be banned from working in the #Mumbai_film_industry.

Irrfan will soon be seen sharing screen space with Hollywood actor Tom Hanks in Sony Pictures Entertainment's film 'Inferno'. The film, helmed by Ron Howard, is releasing in India on October 14 -- two weeks before it opens in the US.

The actor, who was in the national capital for the trailer launch of the film, refrained from wading into the debate by saying that he has come for film promotion only and will address the issue separately.

"This is not the platform to discuss the issue. I will give another interview to express my views on the matter but not here," Irrfan said.

New Kent RO TVC reminds Hema Malini of 'Seeta Aur Geeta'

Veteran actress and politician #Hema_Malini who was here to launch the new TVC campaign of Kent RO said the ad reminds her of her double role in the 1972 film "Seeta Aur Geeta".

The brand launched its new innovation of air purifiers, and the actress -- who is also the brand ambassador -- emphasised the importance of clean air along with pure water.

The ad has Hema in a double role, with one clad in a pink sari and the other in a blue sari. While one talks about the water purifier offered by the brand so far, the other has the 67-year-old actress promoting the air purifier.

"This ad is very interesting, because it reminds me of 'Seeta aur Geeta'. The younger one is the one in pink and the elder one is the one in blue," Hema said here.

KSFDC major revamp to bring cheer to Malayalam film industry

The first meeting of the newly-constituted state-run Kerala State Film Development Corporation #KSFDC held here on Tuesday has drawn up a road map for a major revamp of its activities to cheer the #Malayalam_film_industry.

"One of the major changes is that they have brought the single-window facility where film makers can get all the required clearances at one go," acclaimed filmmaker Lenin Rajendran, who is also KSFDC chairman, told news persons here.

"Anyone who approaches us will not have to go to various agencies for permissions for shooting and other things, as it would be undertaken by us and would be a huge blessing for the film makers," said Rajendran.

'Dangal' bound to be good film, says Imran Khan

Actor #Imran_Khan is sure his star uncle Aamir Khan's upcoming movie "Dangal" will be good.

The "Delhi Belly" actor, who was present at the screening of Swara Bhaskar's web series "It's Not That Simple" on Monday, said: "I haven't seen the trailer of 'Dangal', but being Aamir Khan's film, it is bound to be good."

Asked about his future projects, Imran, who made his Bollywood debut with the hit film "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na" in 2008, said he hasn't decided yet as he needs more time.

Imran was last seen on the big screen in "Katti Batti" (released in 2015).

However, there are reports that Imran has agreed to do a film which will be helmed by Raj Singh Chaudhary.
