Platan Actor #GurmeetChoudhary walks the ramp for #SoumodeepDutta, who brought Zen like Calming Fashion to #LakméFashionWeek Winter/Festive 2018.
Soumodeep Dutta’s Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 Gen Next show was a calm, comfortable, fashion offering when he made his debut.
For Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018 Soumodeep once again unveiled the beauty of a Zen like fashion story with his “Aalo” collection. Keeping the lotus and life in Buddhism as an inspiration, the designer’s fashion tale was an analogy of opposites. Using black and grey against red and white, the line was a quiet symphony of weaves, embellishments and craft.
Giving an earthy feel to the garments, Soumodeep ensured the handloom festive apparel had touches of age-old traditions. The Antariya or Uttariya now known as the sari could be a piece of cloth worn in different ways, which prompted the designer to allow the wearer to experiment with the tailored garments in the collection. Using drapery as a prime detailing, Soumodeep used a single piece of cloth to relate a style story.
The fabrics revealed Ikat motifs woven in Orissa that were at the start of the list. The handlooms of Bengal and Orissa also came together seamlessly, while the Kantha and its variations done by artisans added to the finesse of the garments.

The abstract chrysanthemum motifs were crafted with Gota as yarn; while the inspiration of the heirloom jewels from the Maharani’s ornaments’ chest of yester years, appeared as beading and crystal embellishment.

Shweta Kapur and Urvashi Joneja gave dual Fashion Directions at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2018
The label 431-88 by #ShwetaKapur took the audience through an interesting travel worthy wardrobe during #LakméFashionWeek Winter/Festive 2018. It was a fashionable journey that was inspired by cities and far flung destinations around the world. Shweta’s presentation called “Collection 12” was a line of garments that borrowed heavily from the men’s wear aesthetics, but brought in a softer silhouette that would make the apparel ideal holiday wear.
For a unique start, it was an airport scene with flight details on the screen and the models hurrying for their flights.
The colour palette selected by the designer was reserved for olive, navy, mustard and khaki with bursts of red, orange and gold for added excitement. While the shade card was relatively sombre, it was the fabric choice that created magic on the ramp. Stripped off arduous forms and extraneous details, the pieces in the collection nodded towards structure and utility. Luxurious, fluid, folds of silk came together with cool, breezy, cotton, which was showered with multi-coloured sparks of the very unusual embroidery that was inspired by the sea life of the Great Barrier Reef.
